If you evern wanted to run your own club now you can. Nightclub Empire is a game that allows you to manage a series of nightclubs so you can finally try your hand at running the club better. The game is extremely simle and straight forward, in fact to much so. Its unfortunate that a game that has so much potential burns it all by oversiplyfying the business of running a club.

Scottish Podcasters got aspot in the Scotsman that lays out what many of us already know, the tpodcasting is where its at. Of course they totally skip the issues that most rofessioal DJ’s need to come to grips with how to legally stream music.

How the scotsman can post up podcasting as if its a 1.. 2. 3.. to fame is beyond me but its nice to see podcasting dj’s get some coverage.

Heineken Music announced the Thirst 2005 Global Winner was Ronin of Denmark.
The Thirst Global final took place in front of 3000 dance-music lovers,
at the stunning Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town on January 7th. The other
contenders were Hak’X (Morocco) who came runner-up, DJ Adhe (Indonesia),
Eduardo Rossell (Mexico) and DJ Budda (South Africa). A highly charged and
electrifying event, the final also included performances from internationally
renowned DJs Mylo, Basement Jaxx and Erick Morillo.

Erick Morillo commented: “Each competitor played a fantastic set but what
really stood out was Ronin’s ability to get the crowd rocking.”

Ronin, age 27, said of his win: “This has been the most amazing journey.
All the contestants in the competition were fantastic, so to be able to say I
am the first ever Thirst Global Winner is unbelievable. I can’t wait for
Ibiza. Thank you Heineken!”

The young OXYGENIC can’t decide on which mixer to buy the Numark 5000fx or the Pioneer 500 . The discussion turns around as to why the f*$k anyone would go for the DJM500 when the DJM600 is out with split cue. Other than that the mixers don’t really compete well with one another they are both good quality but the Numark has effects and is more modern.

The symphony for turntable was debuted at Carnegie Hall on October 3rd. DJ Radar, the inventor of a notational system for the turntable, was the dj. The Concerto for Turntables was composed by DJ Radar and Raul Yanez. I can’t really say enough about this to do it justice, go visit the links.

Gemini Sound Products is sponsoring the InternetDJ.com remix competition beginning on August 15th 2005. The winner will receive a prize pack from Gemini DJ including the brand new CFX-20 Professional Touch-Sensitive CD Player, a pair of DJX-1 headphones and a special “DJ Bag” with lots of swag from InternetDJ and Gemini. DJ/Producer Saeed Younan will contribute the source samples for his unreleased song “You Know I Got It.” Anyone who wishes to enter the contest has 30 days to download the core sound files, remix the track in a genre that is within their own personal expertise and upload it to a special area of InternetDJ.com. After the 30 days, the upload facility for the remix competition will be closed and the songs will be prepared for voting by InternetDJ.com members and visitors. The top three from the voting process are then delivered to Saeed Younan who will select the winner of his own volition.

Double Edge Films produced a short film called Spin that is a must see for any DJ. I am unable to describe it with out giving it away but I found it very entertaining I hope you do to.

Unfortunately Double Edge Films doesn’t have much on their site describing whom they are so I can’t give you much of a background on them.
