Looks like Lindsey Lohan is a dj now. Recently at a posh party in New York she was seen dominating the decks. Among her selections were the Beatles, AC/DC and a collection of other hits from the sixties and seventies. The hot lead from Herbie seems to have a wide variety of music taste.

Dj Sasha released a new movie with his longtime partner Digweed called “Delta Heavy”. NewsWeek got in an actually interviewed Sasha on the new movie. The interview turned out pretty crappy as Sasha really made a poor showing of it.

Scottish Podcasters got aspot in the Scotsman that lays out what many of us already know, the tpodcasting is where its at. Of course they totally skip the issues that most rofessioal DJ’s need to come to grips with how to legally stream music.
How the scotsman can post up podcasting as if its a 1.. 2. 3.. to fame is beyond me but its nice to see podcasting dj’s get some coverage.

A newbie DJ on DJ Forums started asking about why his scratching was sucking so bad. Once he shared he had crappy tables and even crappy slip mats it became clear that he answered his own question. People need to understand that you have to buy good equipment if you want good results. Why do newbies always try to save a few hundred to get started sooner when every one with half a brain can tells them to wait and save.
Some pretty good advice is given to him about what he needed to improve in his setup and how to correct his problems there after.

Centaur Entertainment announces that DJ/Producer Junior Vasquez will make a new CD entitled Party Groove: White Party Volume 7. The mix is being presented in conjunction with Junior Vasquez Music. Centaur’s
President Nick DeBiase was very excited and said “We’re very excited to be working with Junior Vasquez
and his new CD will definitely be one of the best dance albums of the year.”
“I tried to make it edgy, uplifting, anthemic and spiritual,” says Junior.
“For many years I was criticized for playing pots-and-pans but I’m over that
sound. I love great vocals with instrumentation that’s tough-as-nails to
underpin the song.” Junior’s reported sobriety in the last year has
certainly influenced him musically.

Stanton has produced a new deck that has a straight tone arm. This deck is causing an uproar in some corners as many people feel that is is superiour to the elderly Technics. Cono121 posted a poll on the topic asa farce but competition heated up on the topic. With MO75 in vain trying to say the poll didn’t matter “Dan Warb” replied with the best quote of the day
“Your telling us that your not really interested in this poll ! Then why are you so keen to keep telling us that no one gives a crap about these results ?? It seams like were touching Technic heads nerves again.”
Ouch !! Seems the rising popularity of these decks is unsettling to more than a few

If you are looking for open source DJ tools then you should go to Openjay They are a start up site that covers all sorts of open source dj software issues. In particular I liked their broad range of topics and how to’s covering open source dj software. While there isn’t much to say about this dj software upstart right now, it is definitly on my watch list. Hopefully they will get more members in their dj forums to talk about the issues concerning open source djs.

Gruso, from inthemix.com.au reported having problems with a DJM600 blowing out the sound system at a club he was playing at. Many other DJ’s report the same problem with the whole DJM series of mixers. In conjunction to this several say they are playing their rigs in the red.
Sounds like a load of bollocks to me, play shit in the red and it might break, thats why its red silly.
What do you think ? Anyone else have problems with the DJM series of mixers ?

The DXM06 is a starter mixer from Numark that has been on the market for some time. The mixer has a good feature set but there are grumbeling on the net of the crossfader bleeding after minimal use.
On DJ Forums, Shiggy complains:
man, the fader craps out too quick on these… I’ve had the mixer for 3 months, it has been replaced once already and now it’s starting to bleed again, doing automatic and very random crabs
Even more complaints about the poor performance of the mixer are on In the Mix where DJ Fusion says:
And yes, my x-fader is leaking after only about 4 or 5 months as well, but I’m hoping the replacement fader willl be better
While crossfaders can be replaced, this seems a bit ludicrous. Has anyone else had a good or bad experience with the DXM06 ?
